Which foods to avoid before having sex in other to minimize chances of bloating and other unwanted problems during sex? Have you noticed that your sex performance is low after consuming certain types of foods?
Evidently, there are foods that are highly recommended to avoid the at-least few hours before having sex, due to the fact that they can hugely affect your sexual performance by leaving you with a gassy, sleepy, bloated stomach and in worst case scenario a zero sex drive.
Verily, you wouldn’t want to ruin that great moment when you are about to have sex with your significant other.
Below is a list of foods to avoid before having sex.
French fries are delicious but are normally filled with lots of fats and salts. These fats can decrease the circulation of blood and can also lower testosterone levels. The excess salt is bad news especially for a man with high blood pressure since it can be difficult for him to maintain a strong erection. In general, fried foods contain high amounts of saturated fats which can lower the levels of testosterone and can worsen the quality of semen. Avoid eating french fries before sex in other not to have undesirable sexual side effects such as decrease of blood circulation and low testosterone levels.
Hot dogs are also full of saturated fats. For both men and women, saturated fats can clog vaginal and penile arteries thereby preventing proper blood flow. Instead of hot dogs, go for fish since it is rich in Omega 3 fatty acids that will help improve cardio blood flow.
Beans are a great source of proteins and fiber. However, they contain large amounts of soluble sugar which trigger the production of gas during digestion. You have probably heard of the saying “where there is a bean, there is a fart”. There is no doubt that a bloated and gassy belly is not the ideal situation you should be having before having sex. Of course, you don’t want to ruin your best moments under the sheets with uncontrollable farts
I was surprised to learn that red meat is part of the food that should be avoided before sex. On the contrary, red meat is said to be a highly effective natural aphrodisiac. According to a study, the large percentage of proteins that is in beans can cause you to feel tired during sex. I strongly believe this varies among people and many men will disagree with this fact due to the practice of eating meat before having sex to boost libido. Furthermore, processed meat especially the ones bought from supermarkets are usually covered in plastic wraps and these wraps contains (Polyvinyl chloride) that can leach into the fatty foods and cause hormone shifts.
Consumption of hot peppers can cause stomach upset which can leave you feeling uncomfortable. Of course, you don’t want to be in a situation whereby you have a burning sensation in your stomach or discomfort in the gastrointestinal tract before or during sex with your partner.
Cruciferous veggies are methane producing foods. The body releases methane to digest such types of foods and normally takes forever to digest. A nutritionist Elissa Goodman explains that if you eat these vegetables before bed, “your body will still be working on digesting it in the heat of the moment”, which apparently is not the best situation you should be in before or during sex. cruciferous veggies include cauliflower, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts.
Cheese and butter
While cheese and other dairy products such as butter are safe to consume, they contain lactose which is also hard to digest and this can lead to bloating and stomach pains.
The fact that popcorn is nutritious doesn’t mean it can perfectly fit into everyone’s diet. If you have a condition affecting your digestive track, consumption of popcorn can stimulate an abdominal pain and stomach upsets. The inner linings of popcorn bags have been proven to contain acids which cause depressant effects on sexual mood.
For the ladies, eating spicy food just before having oral sex with your partner can sometimes be a bad idea. Generally, spicy foods can cause ingestion and heartburn.having to deal with stomach irritation after eating a spicy meal and just before sex isn’t the ideal situation anyone would like to be in.
Garlic is a natural aphrodisiac, however, it contains a lot of starch that can cause bloating. More so, it can cause a huge turn off in bed due to its strong smell. Even if you are not prone to heartburn, it’s best to avoid garlic before sex since it produces strong odor in the body. Garlic can also make the smell of semen less appealing (why does that even matter?) and for the women, the smell of garlic can come out of skin pores and can cause odor in a woman down below. However, if you and your partner are comfortable with the smell of garlic, that shouldn’t matter to you. That being said, if you are fine with the smell, go for it.
Tofu and soy
Abdominal pains that occur after consumption of tofu or soy are linked to soy sensitivity which can cause various symptoms such as cramping, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Tofu contains large amounts of plant based phytoestrogens. Too much estrogen in the body is said to kill the sex drive of both women and men.
Canned foods have high amounts of sodium which can cause gassy stomach. Again you want to avoid anything that would induce a gassy stomach. However, if you must consume canned foods, you are recommended to soak it in water for some minutes in order to reduce the amount of salt.
In most cases, burgers have high amounts of fat content which can trigger heartburn. Greasy burgers (cholesterol) are said to prevent blood flow from reaching the genitals, affecting performance and pleasure.
Licorice contains glycyrrhizic acid, which suppresses the production of testosterone. This is definitely not a food to eat before having sex with your partner due to the fact that it decreases testosterone levels. You need your testosterone levels increased not decreased.
Beer is bad news, so many disagree with this though, apparently because they can’t do without having a glass of beer. But let us let truth prevail, beer is said to alter the state of mind, you think that is all? No, it also impacts on libido (decreases sex drive). Just like Tofu, beer also contains hormone-tampering phytoestrogen – which lowers your sex drive.
The above mentioned foods to avoid before having sex in other to enjoy the sex experience with your partner might not apply to everybody. Some people are comfortable eating some of the foods listed above and have been doing so for most of their lives. If it doesn’t affect your sexual performance, then you are good to go.
However, if you notice your sex performance (stamina) is low after consuming the above listed foods, then you are better off avoiding them completely few hours before having sex.
